October's Principal's Message
I hope everyone managed to stay safe and warm during the past few days. I can say, even living in the north, I don’t recall having to close school during the first week of October.
Aside from the weather, everything is off to a great start at Botha School. Things are starting to ramp up. Next week, we are very excited to take some of the older students to Circle Square Ranch to run Cross Country. The very next day, we will be taking students to Brownfield to compete in Volleyball. Parents are welcome to attend and can certainly travel with us via bus.
Due to the past couple of days that were missed, we have rescheduled our showcase for the Global Cardboard Challenge. The new date will be October 13th, which is also PICTURE DAY and our first school wide project day of the year.
Big news- it seems like the Botha staff is on the hook for some stunts. I am very pleased to say that Botha students surpassed expectations again raising $3348.00 for the Terry Fox Run. This means that we will be setting a date for the teachers to pay our debt. More details to follow- we will make sure everyone gets to be a part of that day.
Top 5 fundraisers that have earned a lunch with us at Boston Pizza are: Ethan, Liam, Karlee, Domonic M and Tianna. Great job to these students, and to all students for continuing to honour Terry Fox and for supporting cancer research.
Finally, we always want to do our best to make sure that Botha parents are up to speed on what is happening at the school. Please check on our school website, botha.clearview.ab.ca for updates and important dates. You can also follow Botha School on Twitter at @BothaABSchool. Grades 3-6 maintain websites as well. Grade 3-4’s site is bothagradethreefour.weebly.com/ and 5-6 is mrflieger.weebly.com . Use these sites to keep up with what your students are learning in class. Finally, please ask your students about Seesaw as a means of staying current on what students are learning and doing from day to day.
All the best in the coming month,
Mike Flieger for the staff of Botha School
