January Principals Message

Dear Botha School Community,

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable winter break, filled with time spent with family and friends. As we return to school, I want to take a moment to discuss the importance of re-establishing our routines.

Returning to our daily routines after a break can be challenging, but it is essential for our success and well-being. Routines provide a sense of stability and help us transition back into the rhythm of school life. I encourage everyone to focus on the following as we get back into our routines:

  1. Consistent Sleep Schedule: Ensure that students are getting adequate rest each night. A good night's sleep is crucial for concentration, learning and emotional regulation.
  2. Daily Homework and Study Habits: Establish a designated time and space for homework, studying and/or reading.
  3. Healthy Eating: A balanced diet can greatly impact energy levels and concentration. Let’s aim to pack nutritious lunches and snacks.
  4. Open Communication: Parents, please continue to communicate with teachers about your child's progress and any concerns you may have. Together, we can ensure a successful start to the new year.

Furthermore, as we navigate this winter season, please ensure that students are coming to school prepared for the weather conditions. We have a few winter activities planned that students will also need to be well prepared for.

Ski day (Jan. 30)  - This can be a really long day if students are cold. Please pack extra clothing, balaclavas, water repellent gloves, warm socks and nutritious snacks.

Skating / Hockey Day (February TBD) - Students are required to have a helmet to be on the ice. This needs to be CSA approved. If you have questions, please contact the school.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our school. Let’s make January a month of growth, learning, and positivity!

Warm regards,

Joy Corpataux, Principal, Botha School
